Moving domain(s) to self-management – a basic How-To

1. Self Management Account

If you do not already have one, you will first need to create an account at the new my.channelisles.net self-management site. Just click on 'Sign up' which you will find in the top right-hand corner. (The username will be an email address that you choose.)

2. Preparing to move domain name(s)

Once you have an account, you need to select the “Move domain names from the legacy system” option (click on the green button in the middle of the screen).

Answer “YES” when asked if you have created an account.

3. Obtaining transfer codes

If you do not have the transfer codes yet, answer “No” when you are asked about them, then click on the “request authorisation” link. (If you do have transfer codes, see Step 4, below)

Enter your name, email address**, and the domain name(s) associated with it for which you need authorisation codes.

** Please note that the email address you enter at this point must be an address that is already recorded on the domain name register and may be a different address from the one that you used as the username for your self-management account.

If the email address matches what we hold on the Register, the authorisation code(s) will be automatically emailed to the registrant. (This may be you, or the person for whom you registered the domain name depending on what is recorded in our database. )

If the email address fails the match you will see an error message telling you what to do next.

4. Transferring the domain to self management

Once you are in possession of the authorisation code(s) you may either

(a) return to Step 2, above, answering "Yes" when” asked about the authorisation code; or if you prefer

(b) you may go directly to the Transfer Domains Form where you can enter the name(s) and corresponding authorisation code(s).

The domain will be automatically transferred into self-management.
